====== Getting started ======


The simplest way to put the Soihtu network into use is to connect your own computer with a [[en:network_cable|network cable]] to the available [[en:socket|socket]] of the [[en:junction_box|junction box]] that is in the room (the location may vary: check the [[junction box]] instructions). When you open an internet browser on your computer, it automatically directs you to [[registration|register]] your computer.

**We recommend, however, that you consider getting a [[router]].** The router is connected to the free socket in the junction box with a network cable. Your own computer (or other device that uses the network) is connected to the router either by cable or wirelessly, according to the instructions that come with the router. When you open the internet browser after the connection, it automatically directs you to [[registration|register]] your router at http://www.kortex.jyu.fi/en/index.shtml. 

Please note that when using the router, the registration concerns the router, not the computer or other device that you have connected to it.
