In some situations, Soihtu network support person may suggest that you try Soihtu's test router in your apartment. Typically in situations where you are trying to install your own router for which you cannot find the manufacturer's user manual and it is unclear whether the problem is caused by Soihdu's network or your own router's features or settings. If you don't have a computer with an ethernet connection, a test router can be the easiest way to find out where the potential problem is.
The test router is typically old, used and slow in speed. The test router may not be reset, and it must be returned as agreed or no later than two weeks after being put into test use to Soihtu's offices (https://soihtu.fi/en/contacts/).
There are different test routers, but the configuration visible to the user has been tried to be similar. There is a sticker on top of the router that shows the name and password of the wifi network provided by the router. The router usually has a (short) connecting cable connected to the WAN port, which is supposed to be used to connect the device to the network socket in your room. Do not disconnect this cable from the router. You can attach your own devices to the available LAN ports.
The test router is usually configured with remote management, which Soihtu's network support can use to check the device's settings if necessary.
