RJ-45

RJ-45 is a connector type that is generally used in network cables. In the Student Village, a CAT6 cable with an RJ-45 connector (i.e. a twin cable in vernacular) is used to create an internet connection.

The RJ-45 connector should not be confused with the RJ-11 connector which is used in landline connections, also including ADSL interfaces. The RJ-11 is smaller than RJ-45, so it also fits the RJ-45 sockets which are meant for RJ-45. However, the connection will not work as the RJ-11 connectors have fewer connected connectors than the RJ-45 connectors.
